Hauptwirkstoffe
Glycosid Cycasin, das durch die Darmflora in Methylazoxymethanol (pseudocyanogenes Glycosid) umgewandelt wird; Aminosäure Beta-methylamino-L-alanin; ein weiteres unidentifiziertes Toxin.
Wirkungsmechanismen
Methylazoxymethanol führt zu gastrointestinalen und hepatischen Störungen, ausserdem ist es karzinogen, mutagen und teratogen.
Veterinärtoxikologie
Toxische bis letale Dosis
Hund: 2 Samen p.o.
Klinische Symptome
Hund: | Vomitus (evt. blutig), Diarrhoe (evt. blutig), Kolik, Schwäche, Ataxie, Depression, proprioceptive Defizite, Krämpfe oder Koma, Leberschädigung, evt. Ikterus. |
Therapie
Dekontamination / Symptomatische Therapie (
siehe Notfalltherapie) mit Schleimhautschutz.
Ueberwachung der Leberfunktion.
